Pamporovo is one of Bulgaria's most famous ski resorts, along with Bansko and Borovets. It is a purpose-built modern ski resort; the pearl of the beautiful, scenic and legendary mountain - the Rhodopes (the cradle of the mythical singer Orpheus), making it the most inviting area in which to buy property in Bulgaria.

The Rhodopes are covered with magnificent pine forests, green meadows and mountain peaks bathed in sunshine. Pamporovo is 260 km from Sofia (Bulgaria’s capital) and 85 km from Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second largest city. Plovdiv International Airport, which carries mainly charter and package holiday flights, is currently going through an expansion and will be ready to receive low cost carriers in the near future.

The gentle profile of the mountain with its rounded slopes and summits makes Pamporovo particularly suitable for beginners. Nevertheless, the difficult ski runs 'The Giant Slalom' and 'The Wall' are an excellent challenge for every expert skier. All ski runs are safeguarded and maintained according to the world ski standards. There are more than 100 highly qualified ski instructors, fluent in several languages, who train both beginners and advanced skiers. Emergency SKI PATROL service is available 24 hours a day.

Also, Pamporovo is a very popular summer resort, being marketed as the 'mountain and the lakes' resort, with a number of summer activities including guided mountain hiking, mountain biking, tennis, horse back riding, trout fishing, fly fishing, etc.

In February 2005, the Bulgarian Parliament declared Pamporovo a tourist area of national significance. This means that the nature will be preserved intact and limited residential construction will be allowed.

Apartments and other vacation properties in Pamporovo are expected to continue to appreciate in value over the coming years, with the average price projected to be well above EUR 1500 per m2 in 2007.
